Election night is still young, and any final assessment is still out of the question. But one thing is already abundantly clear: the voters have severely punished the governing “Ampel-coalition” in Berlin. For the SPD in particular, the elections in Hesse and Bavaria are a disaster. In both states, it achieved its worst results in history.
16 percent in one of their home states – Hesse – is catastrophic for the comrades. And especially for their top candidate, Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser. If she still has a shred of political decency, she would have to resign after this slap in the face by the voters.
In Bavaria, the SPD has always been weak. But just 8 percent in the forecast – that is devastating even by the standards of the Free State. ARD was apparently so embarrassed by this that, unlike the other parties in Bavaria, it even added a decimal place to its forecast – and reported an 8.5.
To put this in perspective, the SPD now has just over half as many votes as the “Free Voters” and the “AfD” – and not added together, but individually.
The FDP was also clearly punished. In Bavaria, it failed to clear the five-percent hurdle, despite the prominent Focus founder Helmut Markwort as a candidate. In Hesse, it must tremble for a place in parliament.
Of the governing parties, only the Greens got off reasonably lightly. This is logical: the traffic light makes green policy. While this put off many former SPD and FDP voters, it keeps the Greens’ core voters in line. And some certainly switched to the original than to the green knock-off in the form of the SPD.
It is significant how the “Tagesschau”, for example, avoids calling a spade a spade on its website, like the devil avoids holy water. The only journalistically correct headline of the editorial for the evening would have been: “Defeat for “Ampel”-coalition, disaster for SPD”.
Instead, the fee journalists beat around the bush. Apparently according to the motto: You don’t bite the hand that feeds you.
Here are the headlines of the top three posts on the “Tagesschau” page at about 6:15 p.m. Sunday:
“Bavarian state election: CSU ahead – Greens just ahead of AfD and Free Voters”
“State election Hesse: CDU clearly ahead – three-way fight for second place”
“LIVEBLOG Elections in Bavaria and Hesse ++ CSU and CDU are ahead ++”
Since the colleagues are reading along here, perhaps they will still take up the criticism – and at least begin to put aside the biting inhibition against the SPD. And perhaps report at least halfway honestly who the big winner of this evening is, thanks to enormous gains: the AfD.
As pleasing as it is that many people have rejected the “Ampel”-coalition and its ideological policies, the result also clearly shows that a political turnaround in Germany is not to be expected.
Under Merkel, the CDU/CSU worked for years toward the conditions we have now. And she has never distanced herself from Merkel. On the contrary – Bavaria’s Prime Minister Söder recently honored them.
In this respect, the election result also shows that the majority is in favor of “business as usual” – full speed ahead on the iceberg.
It depends on you – on your support! 1000 thanks!
ZDF has had my deciphering video about Markus Lanz’s methods blocked three times on Youtube. The shot backfired. I uploaded it to the free internet on Rumble. It has been viewed a whopping 6.5 million times. Apparently because the algorithms don’t slow down “critical” content like they do on YouTube. One reader calculated that this meant that more viewers had seen my critical analysis of the program than the program itself. My decrypted video on the ZDF’s diatribe about Hans-Georg Maaßen has also been clicked 6.2 million times on Rumble. That gives you courage! But it also costs a lot of time and energy – in this specific case, a night shift. I am all the more grateful for your support. Without them, my work would not be possible, because I receive neither compulsory fees nor tax millions, nor do I have a billionaire sponsor. For this I am independent!
Currently (again) donations via credit card, Apple Pay etc. are possible – despite the Paypal block: via this link. Alternatively via bank transfer, IBAN: DE30 6805 1207 0000 3701 71. For those who have little themselves, I expressly ask you to keep what little you have. I am all the more pleased to receive support from all those whom it does not hurt.
