The fact that members and supporters of the AfD are locked out of restaurants, that they have to expect to be the victims of attacks or assaults because of their political convictions, and that there is massive exclusion even within the family circle, is just as anti-democratic as usual in the “best Germany ever”. Instead of being outraged by such totalitarian thinking and demanding a minimum of democracy, large parts of the political-media complex even applaud such exclusion. First and foremost, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who, in mockery of his office, openly calls for the party to be fought.
So it is no wonder that exclusion is taking on ever more absurd proportions. “The association euthanasia plans a change in the statutes, according to which in particular members of the AfD can no longer join the association in the future,” writes now the “mirror”, the extended media hand of Red-Green in Hamburg: A corresponding draft provides to accept in the future only people who “are not members of a party that is observed by the German Office for the Protection of the Constitution at the federal or state level”. Both are currently the case with the AfD. “False information led to exclusion. However, old members would not be affected, nor would people who become AfD members after the fact,” the report says.
As a reason for the initiative, the association’s founder and former Hamburg Senator of Justice Roger Kusch (CDU) stated that “the association’s activities depend on a functioning constitutional state, in particular on a strong constitutional jurisdiction. The AfD, however, wants to “lay the axe” to this, the Christian Democrat said. In addition, the assisted suicide association wants to “arm itself against a hostile takeover by AfD silos,” the ex-senator said, according to the news magazine. “We can live with some AfD members – as we have in the past. But we want to prevent it from becoming too many.” The so-called “suicide assistance” can only be claimed by those who are members.
On its website, the association writes: “Euthanasia, which here in the narrower sense means assistance with suicide, is a broad field and includes, among other things, the refraining from intensive medical prolongation of suffering that has become pointless, at the request of patients who instead take advantage of or forego palliative measures, symptom and pain treatment, and caring nursing … As an experienced and reliable partner for our members, we also enable self-determined dying in one’s own home and country.”
In fact, the planned amendment to the articles of association will therefore deny AfD members access to assistance with suicide, for example due to serious illness. The question is whether the regulation should also apply to members of the party “Die Linke”. This is because it, too, is being monitored by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution at the federal and state levels. However, the colleagues from “Der Spiegel” do not seem to be aware of this, because they do not address this question in their article. Although it almost imposes itself. This proves once again that Spiegel is blind in its left eye.
The fact that AfD members are now even to be denied support in committing suicide is a new high point in the long list of absurdities in dealing with the party. What’s next? A cemetery or crematorium ban for members of the party? Forgive the crudeness of my question – but such audacity as the plans of the Euthanasia Association force one to be drastic in one’s expression. Because that’s the only way to comment on this insanity.
