The politicized anti-Semitism

A guest contribution by Vera Lengsfeld

When loud jubilant celebrations took place on German streets after Hamas’ murderous assault on Israel, while pictures of slaughtered Israeli children and raped, violated women went around the world, the woke bubble in our country briefly expressed shock. But shortly thereafter, we were shown why the anti-Semitism that masquerades today as hatred of Israel was able to develop steadily. The opinion makers put it into perspective for all it’s worth. Quality newspapers like “Welt” and “Tagesspiegel” talk about “fighters”, while no one has to expect consequences who rejoices in front of running cameras about the massacres in the Israeli border area. On the contrary, the teacher who snatched the Palestinian flag from a student and received beatings for it is threatened with a professional ban by the Muslim Parents Association, while woke leftists ask on Twitter why the teacher could dare to confiscate the flag. Mere waving would not be a celebration of Hamas’ deeds.

My reading tip

While after the Palestinian attack on the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, then-Foreign Minister Genscher and his aide Klaus Kinkel set in motion a deportation program for Palestinians, today we are told by Green Party leader Ricarda Lang that there will be no upper limit for “asylum seekers.” Allegedly, the Germans are ready to take in war refugees from the GAZA Strip. If there is a special program, similar to the one for alleged Afghan local forces of the Bundeswehr, what German diplomats have warned about will repeat itself: Hamas terrorists will use this program, just as the Taliban do.

In any case, our Minister of the Interior has her hands full trying to portray the rollator revolutionaries of the Reichsbürger as the real danger to our country. The federal anti-discrimination agency is leaving Twitter tomorrow, due to the “huge rise in trans and queer hostility, racism, misogyny, anti-Semitism and other anti-human content.” Not a word about Hamas. This was the first posting by the agency on the platform in days – the anti-discrimination agency had not commented on the situation in Israel and current developments in Germany on X until now.

While German citizens are stuck in Israel because the government refuses to provide planes for evacuation, Chancellor Scholz publicly eats fish sandwiches in a good mood instead of sitting in a crisis team, as Chancellor Schmidt did in his time. Nor are there any known steps the government is taking to try to free the German hostages held by Hamas. Instead, Foreign Minister Baerbock is busy ensuring the flow of money to Gaza, just as she made sure money was sent to Afghanistan again after the program was briefly frozen after the Taliban took power. Germany does not support terrorism, Baerbock declares faithfully. Israel apparently has other information and is demanding clarification.

That’s how it’s been going for decades. In the first legislative period after unification, it came out that Palestinian textbooks teaching hatred of Israel were funded with EU money. There was a brief outcry, vows of improvement were made – and everything continued as before. Now the men who are being trained as terrorists in Palestinian schools are turning against Israel. When Abbas, the head of the Palestinian Authority, was in Germany, he was accused of a number of anti-Semitic incidents. This did not lead to a reduction in financial support. When it came out that the Palestinians were using EU funds to support the families of killed terrorists, there was again an outcry, but to my knowledge nothing happened.

The amazing thing is not the massive explosion of Israel-hatred on our streets, but that politicians and journalists act so surprised. It is not to be expected that they will finally act against it now.

Under fire – but all the more important is your support!

“Conspiracy ideologue,” “Nazi” or “right-wing agitator”: as a critical journalist today, you have to constantly have dirt thrown at you. The public broadcasters are particularly active in this area. ARD’s chief fact-finder Gensing already sued me in 2019, and the Böhmermann broadcaster ZDF recently slandered me as a “propagator of conspiracy narratives” – without naming a single piece of evidence, and in a post full of lies. Springer journalist Gabor Steingardt slandered me in “Focus,” for which I worked for 16 years, as a “member of an army of tin soldiers” and a “media fighting machine” of the AfD. On the initiative of “Westdeutscher Rundfunk,” I was even put on the wanted list. If one defends oneself legally, one usually has to bear the costs oneself. Your support is all the more important. Also morally. It spurs you on to keep going and not give up. Thank you very much for making my work possible with your contribution – without compulsory fees and tax money.
Currently (again) donations via credit card, Apple Pay etc. are possible – despite the Paypal block: via this link. Alternatively via bank transfer, IBAN: DE30 6805 1207 0000 3701 71. For those who have little themselves, I expressly ask you to keep what little you have. I am all the more pleased to receive support from all those whom it does not hurt.

Guest posts always reflect the author’s opinion, not mine. And I believe that contributions from contentious authors are particularly valuable for discussion and democracy. I value my readers as adults and want to offer them different points of view so they can form their own opinions.
